Ulster Touring Opera
The company has been engaging with the Theatre Green Book project since April 2021, and has already build many of the Baseline practices into its touring work. The company has also sought to sustainably increase access to opera though digital technology by creating the world's first freely available augmented reality opera app. The AR Opera app for iOS harnesses volumetric capture and spatial computing to bring opera singers into people's living rooms using mobile phones. While still a young company, UTO is now leading international partnerships to explore the sustainability of digital opera with partners such as Université de Montréal, as well as sharing the learnings across other sectors, including Belfast City Council's HUB-IN digital heritage project.
